More than 120 cyclists and three dogs joined Toronto Councillor Lily Cheng’s third community ride from Willowdale to the Port Lands. The 25 km route highlighted Toronto’s trails, cycling infrastructure, and gaps in safe connections, while bringing together riders of all ages for a welcoming day of advocacy, community, and unexpected weather.

Europe 2026 – Day 1 & 2 – Toronto to Amsterdam
We arrived at the airport together, checked bags quickly, and watched a brief sunset before boarding. On the flight, I monitored ventilation, slept unusually well, and woke to a disappointing breakfast. In Amsterdam, efficient transit, bicycles everywhere, a welcoming hotel, and a peaceful walk set the tone for our trip with plans for a museum tomorrow.
Ride to Toronto – Biidaasige Park, Bike Rally, and Public Art
This is quite a long post, and I was thinking about whether I should break it into multiple posts, but I decided to add a table of contents, instead, to make it easy to jump to a specific section. The Ride Cindy, Barry and I decided to ride to Biidaasige Park, a new parkContinue reading “Ride to Toronto – Biidaasige Park, Bike Rally, and Public Art”

To my friends and family, and others who enjoy reading my blog to follow my travels by bike, I want to let you know how much I appreciate you taking the time to follow me, when there are so many things online demanding your attention. Sunday April 19 – Riding the Humber, Again
On my second ride down the Humber this year, I invited Patti to come along. I mapped the ride from the Toronto Public Library on Humberwood Boulevard down to the lake and found it to be 50km return. We weren’t sure if we could go that far this early in the season but decided toContinue reading “Sunday April 19 – Riding the Humber, Again”
Sunday March 30 – Riding the Humber
Years ago, before the Humber River Trail, went under the 401, I rode a part of it with Patti. We didn’t go far. My only strong recollection is pushing our bikes along the sidewalk over the 401 and how noisy it was. Patti’s recollection is that we got ice cream at Dairy Queen on WestonContinue reading “Sunday March 30 – Riding the Humber”
Saturday October 18 – Climbing the CN Tower
In early October 2007 Megan asked me if we could climb the CN Tower. I didn’t know, but told her I would look into it. I found out that The Toronto United Way holds a climb for fundraising every October. Alun expressed an interest in going, too. I researched how many stairs had to beContinue reading “Saturday October 18 – Climbing the CN Tower”
Book of Mormon
What a perfect autumn day it was today. I started out with a quick bike ride in the cool of a perfectly still, sunny morning. The trees were changing colour at the Mayfield Golf Club. Upon my return home, I had a quick shower, then Lara and Joe picked up Michael and me and weContinue reading “Book of Mormon”
Sunday September 7 – Wicked and Some Toronto Theatre History
Alun likes musical theatre in general and Wicked in particular. He often listens to the soundtrack on his phone. When we learned that Wicked was coming to Toronto we asked him if he would like tickets for his birthday and he did. So back in May, when tickets first went on sale, he and IContinue reading “Sunday September 7 – Wicked and Some Toronto Theatre History”
